CPP20212 Certificate II in Security Operations

Course Description

The qualification is designed for people who wish to work in Manpower sector of the private security industry. Typical clients include:

  • Persons with no or little workplace experience who are seeking to enter part-time or fulltime employment
  • Persons with related experience such as prior employment within police or defence force who are seeking to transition into civilian employment
  • Persons with prior experience within the private security industry and who are required to update their qualifications to meet licensing requirements

Duration

There are 136 Program Unique Supervised Hours for this training program.

For a fulltime day class this consists of 17 days of 8 hours’ duration.

For night time classes this consists of 34 evenings of 4 hours’ duration.

Successful completion of this qualification provides the necessary competencies to apply to Victoria Police Licensing and Regulation Division for a Private Security Individual Licence for the categories of Crowd Controller and Security Guard (Unarmed Guard).

Course Structure

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must demonstrate competency in:

  • 12 units of competency:
    • 7 core units
    • 7 core units

The elective units are chosen as follows:

  • 5 units from the elective units listed in the training package
  • 2 of the units may be chosen from Certificate I, II or III qualifications in CPP07 or another current Training Package, provided the integrity of the AQF alignment is ensured, and they contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome and no more than 1 unit is from Certificate I.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for persons seeking enrolment into this qualification.

Vardhan Institute of Management and Technology (VIMT) require that all learners seeking enrolment into this qualification have an appropriate level of written and spoken English suitable for employment within the private security industry. These skills are assessed by way of a Pre-Training Review during the enrolment process. The Pre-Training Review complies with the appropriate levels of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF) in accordance with the CPP07 Training Package requirements. The framework stipulates appropriate LLN levels for:

  • Writing
  • Oral Communication
  • Numeracy
